Savanna Oaks sits on a ridge on West Linn's west side, about 354 acres looking out over the Willamette and Tualatin rivers. The ground runs from flat to very steep, Salamo Creek winds through the western part, and some parcels along the edge are still outside city limits, which helps explain the green, open feel.
The neighborhood takes its name from the White Oak Savanna, about 20 acres on Tannler Drive with trails, picnic tables and benches at the viewpoints. Neighbors have put more than 20,000 volunteer hours into restoring it. Savanna Oaks is also a certified Firewise community, a sign of how seriously people here take wildfire preparedness on a wooded ridge.
The homes are mostly newer, in Craftsman and traditional styles, and lots vary with the terrain. One thing to know: parts of the neighborhood are zoned R-7, where Oregon's middle housing laws now allow duplexes and similar homes, so a nearby lot can add homes over time.
